East Kentucky Basketball Association / Youth Basketball of America General Rules

MANDATORY

Attention Coaches, if you have not completed your registration and roster forms and given them to an East Kentucky Basketball Association representative before your first scheduled game your team WILL NOT be allowed to play.

1. All teams and divisions will play 6 minute quarters with stop and start clock. (Senior division will play 20 minute halves with running clock.)
2. Half-time will last for 3 minutes.
3. Overtime will last for 3 minutes when necessary.
4. Each team will have two 60 second timeouts per half with NO CARRYOVER. Each team will have 1 timeout for any overtime period.
5. There will be a minimum of 5 minutes for warm-up before each game.
6. Back court defense will only be allowed in the fourth quarter in the 8 and under division.
7. The home team is required to provide a book keeper for the game. The visitor team is required to provide a clock keeper for the game.
8. Pool Play - All teams will advance to a single elimination seeded Championship Tournament.
9. Pool Play Tie Breaker:
   • 1st - Head to Head Play: 2 way ties will be Head to Head play.
   • 2nd - Point System: 3 way ties will be determined by point system.
10. GAME TIME IS GAME TIME!!! Games must start on time. Have your team ready to play at your scheduled game times. Game time will be forfeit time if a team does not show up.
11. Bracket Play: Teams need to be ready 15 minutes early for each game. If we are running early we will start early. Games are scheduled in 1 hour increments.
12. Mercy Rule: If a team builds a lead of 20 points or more in the 2nd half, the clock will run continuously.
13. Home Team: The home team will be listed first or the top team in the bracket. The home team should wear white and keep the scorebook.
14. Visiting Team: The visiting team will be listed second or the bottom team in the bracket. The visiting team should wear dark and run the clock.
